Computer Vision Syndrome

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is an eye condition caused by prolonged computer use. When you stare at a computer screen or a digital device for an extended amount of time, your eye muscles remain in one position for hours at a time. The eye muscles, like any other muscles in our body, can fatigue. When the eye muscles fatigue it may become difficult to maintain a clear, focused image on the screen. You might find yourself blinking or squinting to refocus. Also, you may find when you look up from the screen it may take time or effort to see clearly in the distance.   These are signs that your eyes need to rest.

The most common symptoms associated with CVS are:

  • Eyestrain
  • Fatigue or tired eyes
  • Headaches
  • Blurred vision
  • Double vision
  • Dry eyes
  • Neck and/or shoulder pain

If you use a computer, smart phone, or other digital devices on a regular basis, you could be one of thousands that are affected with CVS.

Call Premier Eye Care of Naples to schedule your CVS assessment.
